May 9-13 Weekly Update

Our week in review:

Math: Students continued to practice adding and subtracting numbers to 100 using both the traditional way and whatever other strategy they choose.

Language Arts: Our phonics focus this week were the consonant digraphs (wr & kn). We also wrote rhyming poems about bees, stories about bugs and started exploring the work on Shel Silverstein.

Science: This week we began our study of small, crawling and flying animals by learning a bit about the difference between insects and spiders, what a bug actually is, body parts and different types.

Art: Click the link below to see some of the beautiful art the class created and displayed. On a side note, the kids were interested in learning more about Van Gogh after learning so much about the life of Picasso. We read some books about Van Gogh and next week in art will make him our focus.
