Our week in review:
Math: Adding 10's to numbers was our focus this week in Math. To practice this with your child, give them a number from 0-100 and ask them to count on by 10's forward and backwards. We also introduced adding 2 digit numbers and will be continuing practicing this concept over the coming weeks.
Language Arts: Students used the feedback given to each other to improve their adventure writing on Google Classroom. They really enjoyed the process and the feedback they gave each other was very positive and sincere. We will do more of this on a regular basis.
We also wrote bold beginnings for our Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs stories. This week we have Tasty Tuesday and will be writing our 'breakfast' section of our story.
Time will be spent reviewing the spelling rules for when we add '-ing' onto the end of words.
Spelling: The Spellathon test is this Thursday, March 17th. The class goal is to get the most 100%'s so they can win the ice cream party.
Art: I am just waiting for a few students to finish their leprechaun drawings before I take a picture to post. But I will say they turned out really cute. It's amazing to see how much they have grown as little artists since September.
Science: We experimented with different insulators this week and discovered that batting and styrofoam made much better insulators than tin foil and newspaper. Remind your child of this as they design their ice cube insulators this week.
We turned liquids to solids by making our own version of a Wendy's Frosty. Some froze better than others but they all tasted great.
