Our week at a glance included:
Math: On Monday the class love the new math game 'Place Value Face Off' that was introduced. If you'd like to play it at home with your child, you will only need a deck of cards and they can show you the rest. On Friday we practiced our adding 9 skills by playing a Valentine's Day themed game of Bump.
We have shifted our main focus for the next few weeks to shapes & space. Our study began with learning the differences between 2-D and 3-D shapes as well as identifying and naming them.
Science: Moving onto our study of Hot & Cold Temperatures, the class has been taking the information learned about Polar Bears and applying it to how animals adapt in extreme temperatures. We will be starting our upcoming week exploring this further, learning about different animals and what they do to survive extreme cold and heat.
Language Arts: The class designed snowmen this week that they then had to describe during writers workshop. The focus was to throw away boring used up words and replace them with more exciting and descriptive words. A few students are still finishing up but once they are all turned it, I will be sure to post a few.
Due to the Monday holiday, new word sorts will be given on Tuesday and tested on Friday.
