***I moved this weeks spelling test to Monday because of all the Halloween chaos.***
Language Arts - This week our class took part in a writing assessment called the HLAT where students wrote about a special place. They decided on their own if they wanted to write a narrative that can be true or imaginative.
Math - Our class really has a great grasp on patterning. Such a great grasp that we flew through these math outcomes very quickly. This week we further explored pattern cores & rules, we converted our patterns to letters and identified the attributes of the objects in a pattern. We ended our week coming up with a repeating pattern that we used to create a race track for our Beebots. Students then had to problem solve to navigate the Beebot around their race track. After, they graphed how many of each type of shape was used in their pattern. Click the caption under the picture below for pictures of this task.
Zones of Regulation - We spent a lot of time this week exploring strategies to use when in the red zone to return to the green. Many students decided that taking deep breaths and getting exercise where the strategies they would want to use the most. This coming week we are going to start learning to be more mindful and take part in weekly Mind Up training. Students will learn strategies to stay calm and self-regulate.
