Update for September 21-25

Please click the calendar tab above for any important dates.

Class Dojo: For those asking, the typical amount of Dojo points earned this week per student were about 21 points.

Math: This week we continued to practice relating addition and subtraction sentences and how we can use one to help us solve the other. We also have been learning more about the equal sign and balancing numbers and equations. For example: 3+5 = 4+4. Our basic facts focus continued to be +1/-1.

Social Studies: Students have almost finished up their mapping projects of the town they created. This will wrap up at the start of next week.

Language Arts: Buddy reading was introduced during our daily 5 time. The kids were so excited each day for the buddy reading time and worked very hard to build their stamina minutes to earn this time. We are now at 15 minutes for each of our daily 5 rounds. During our writing time, we have started discussing how to write about small moments and including at least 3 details in the paragraphs.

Tasty Tuesday: We had our first Tasty Tuesday this week and made caramel apple slices with chocolate chips and sprinkles. They were quite delicious. After taste testing their creations, everyone wrote a recipe review in their cookbooks that they will get to bring home at the end of the year. Click the album below to find a picture of your child testing out his/her creation.

Assemblies: The school has been working on how to treat each other with respect. They have been spending time with Mrs. Kloschinsky on Wednesday's and Friday's to learn more about what this means. In class we have been carrying this over by discussing how we treat and talk to each other as well as working on practicing our basic routines and behaviour.
