Week of April 13-17

Important dates this week:
Thursday - Fundscrip orders due
                - Crazy Day (hair, clothes)
Friday - No School (PD day)

Zones of Regulation: This week we only just started to explore the red zone. Stay tuned for more information in next week's post.

Math: The focus has been on measuring length using only 1 of a unit and estimating lengths.

Language Arts: We have wrapped up our Cloudy With a Chance of Meatball stories. Thank you to Kirk Wagner who is going to come in on Thursday and help put them together for us. This week we are going to start a poetry unit.

Social Studies: Students created graphic projects describing the natural resources of one of our focus communities and the jobs that the resource creates. They also included information about tourism in that community. The Grade 2 Culture Festival was a real hit. A lot of hard work went into preparing booths and there was a real variety of things to see, taste, touch and learn. Everyone did a great job and had a lot of fun. Write one thing your child learned from a booth in their agendas for this week's blog question. I'm hoping to see more than 2 responses this week. ;)

Home Reading: It is almost May and some students have yet to take part in our home reading program. Remember, the only way to become a better reader is to practice, practice, practice.
