September 24-28

There are a lot of things happening in the school and in 2A next week! 

-On Monday students will receive new spelling words. But they are already posted on Spelling City if you would like a sneak peak. 

-We are going to continue with preparing ourselves for Daily 5 by introducing Buddy Reading time. That is usually a favorite for the kids. I will also be continuing to do some more specific reading assessments on students.

-On Wednesday our class is getting a special visit from the award winning creator or Box Cars and One Eyed Jacks. Jane Felling is coming in to teach the class new math and language arts games. Ours is one of only a few classes across the province who get these visits from her so we are very lucky.
-On Thursday morning we have the Terry Fox Run/Walk. In my condition, I will be staying behind and helping serve food. Another staff member will be guiding our class for me. If any parents would like to join us, please let me know as you are very welcome to.
-Friday will be our spelling test as well as picture day.

We spent a lot of time this week learning how to count by 2's, 5's & 10's forward and backwards. Please take any opportunities you can to practice this with your child. Today we played a domino game called Even Steven, Odd Todd. Students had to roll a die and tell if it was even or odd. Then they flipped a domino. If the sum of the domino matched what was rolled (even/odd) they got to put the domino back in the bag. The first person to get rid of all their dominoes wins. Here are some pictures...
