Our Week in Review:

Language Arts: Our class had an opportunity to read our Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs stories to our Kinder Buddies. We took a step back to the basics this week reviewing proper sentence writing that includes capitals, proper spelling and punctuation. The class also completed some digital journal writing using Google Classroom.

Math: This week we focused on writing numbers to the millions in expanded, standard and word form. We continue to practice our basic facts through daily activities and games. Encourage your child to do the same at home using games such as Whack a Mole (Fly swatters and cards. They'll show you), rolling dice and multiplying the numbers, games linked to the blog, etc. Having a strong grasp of basic multiplication and addition facts will take a lot of the complication and frustration out of grade 5 math concepts.

Social Studies: Focusing on Canada's regions, students learned about our provinces, their flags, capital cities and regions through various hands on activities. Thank you Mr. Maltais (our district technology coach) for coming out and teaching the class how to create their own maps using Google Maps. There will be a mapping quiz on Monday before we move on to a study of the landscapes.
