September 19-23

Important Information:

-Safety Patrol starts this week. If your child has signed up for a time slot, please ensure they are on time. If they are sick, contact the school so we can put someone in their place for the day. Morning shifts begin at 8:15. Afternoon shifts end at 3:30.

-Immunization envelopes were sent home Friday.

-Entertainment book packages were also sent home Friday.

Our Week at a Glance:

Language Arts: In writing we took a closer look at expository/informative writing, the features of the text, identifying the topic sentence, main ideas and entertaining, elaborate details, etc.
We compared and contrasted the personalities of 2 main characters from our novel study.
Spelling: New words will be sent home on Monday. Today's test results can be viewed on Spelling City by clicking the spelling tab above.

Math: What an exciting week we had as we were the first in the division to get to play with a set of small robots called Ozobots. The students took what they have been learning about patterning and digitally coded their robots to demonstrate repeating patterns (made robots dance in repeating patterns to create a music video) and increasing patterns with actions. Watch the video to see some of the fun that was had.

Science: Building weather vanes was a fun way to learn about wind, speed and direction this week. I included pictures below.
