Almost everyone seemed well rested from the break which is good because we were busy, busy. Scroll down to see how much we accomplished.
Other important things:
1. Book orders due on Tuesday.
2. 3 students are still missing headphones. They know who they are. ;)
3. Hot lunch orders are due January 16th
4. Wednesday is 80's DAY! Dress 80's for the 80th day of school!
Before the break, we created snowmen out of soft pastels. Check them out if you are in the school.
Language Arts: We spent some time learning about resolutions and setting realistic goals for ourselves. After doing some brainstorming, everyone created their own goals for the year. They had to include a reading goal, a general goal, a new food to try and something new they wanted to learn.
The class learned about the final phase of Daily 5 this week which was listening to reading. They can access our listening to reading sites from home if they would like through the class blog under 'Language Arts'.
Gavin earned Student of the Week. He really buckled down this week and has been doing some great things in the class. I'm very proud of him.
Math: We've been learning different strategies in math to add 2 digit numbers up to 100.
Science: We began our study of Hot and Cold Temperatures. We have been learning to describe temperature using expressions such as hotter than and colder than by creating similes on the topic, experimenting with hot and cold water and creating collages.
Also we have learning to measure temperature in degrees Celsius by reading thermometers. With a snow experiment we began describing how heating and cooling materials can often change them.
