In math we have been exploring place value through the use of ones, tens and even 100 blocks! To reinforce our understanding for the meaning of place value in numbers to 100, we created our own place value homes! First we tested out our building skills with our base ten blocks, and then created 2D versions with construction paper. The results are fantastic!
In language arts we are continuing with our Daily 5 Routines of Read to Self, Writing time, and whole class Word Work. For the next week we will be working on non-fiction writing about bats, and we spent some time on Friday doing research online and recording information into our planning. This week we will work on putting our research into writing!
In science we are wrapping up our magnets unit! We have tested what poles of a magnet attract or repel, what the magnetic field can pass through, and which types of materials are magnetic or non-magnetic.
This means we will start out mapping unit in social! We will start off with discussing our location in the world, and symbols of Canada.
This Friday we will be decorating the halls to a Happy Halloween theme! We're still looking for 2 or 4 litre milk jugs rinsed out to be brought in!
