Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a restful break and is ready to get back into our school routine. I can't wait to see the smiling students on Monday and hear all about their holidays!
ELA: This week we will be reading a story called Squirrel's New Year's Resolution. We will talk about resolutions and set some goals for the new year. We will also reflect a bit on 2013. Look for our New Years writing and art on our hall bulletin board later in the week! We will also be doing our Daily 5 and Spelling lessons. This weeks spelling words focus on blends.
Math: Our new math unit is called Data Analysis. Your child will be learning about graphs, and about asking questions to gather information. We will sort objects into concrete graphs, use symbols to create pictographs, read graphs and talk about them, and ask questions to collect and record data. Students will also continue to practice addition and subtraction facts to 18 through games, songs, and other activities.
Social: We are continuing our Looking at Places unit this week. It is exciting because our Flat Stanleys are starting to come back! I can't wait to see what adventures they've had!
Health: Meghan is back on Mondays with the 'Pleased to be Me' program.
Reminder: This Wednesday is early dismissal.
