1. Fruit orders are due on Tuesday. The apples are always so sweet. We love them in our house. Proceeds goes to buying technology for our classrooms. (Fingers crossed this includes a projector to run our smart board properly.)
2. Town of Devon is holding Family Day events in the arena on Monday.
3. Tuesday is our 100th day of school. We are doing 100 day themed activities through the day. Unfortunately I will be away at a workshop. But I have left lots of fun plans for the day.
4. Rainbow Day on Wednesday. Dress in all kinds of colours that day.
5. Jump Rope for Heart forms due Tuesday. Thanks Mr. Wagner for the great action shots of Friday.
What were we up to all week?
Math: We are still working on Subtraction this week and getting ready to start wrapping up our unit. Our focus this week will be on problem solving and creating our own story problems using addition and subtraction.
Chicka, Chicka, 123: We have been receiving letters from schools all across country. This week we received letters from classes in Toronto, Lethbridge and Squamish. Thank you Mrs. Bennett for all your help setting up our display.
Language Arts: This week we finished our 5 senses winter poems. I posted a couple of them below. We have also been reviewing long vowels and the different ways we can make vowels say their names. The class is going to be exploring a new form of media this coming week to express their creative ideas and eventually learn how to provide constructive and positive feedback. More to come on this next week.
Science: We wrapped up our study of hot and cold temperatures by presenting our slideshows on how animals adapt to extreme temperatures. We learned that eagles spread their wings to cool their bodies and that rabbits fur changes in the winter to adapt to a colder climate.
