We start out the week with Yoga!
ELA: We are continuing to conference on writing this week. Students wrote stories about A Day in the Life of their Shoe. This week we will be peer-editing using a technique called, "Two Stars and a Wish". Students will be giving feedback to each other by telling 2 things they liked about the story (2 stars) and 1 thing they would like them to improve on (a wish). STAR Reading assessments will be done this week.
Math: We are continuing our Data Analysis unit. Students have created questions, used tally marks and charts to collect data, and graphed and interpreted results using bar graphs and pictographs. We will be doing a few final graphing activities and then will be moving onto a new unit in February. To help prepare us for more challenging adding and subtracting equations in our next unit, we have been working on our basic adding and subtracting facts. It helps if students practice these at home too.
Science: Students are enjoying exploring with Magnets. This week we are doing a magnet fishing experiment, creating a mobile, and playing Magnetic or Not as inspired by the Bill Nye video we watched last week. :)
Art: Last week, we did a study of the French artist Matisse. Students created a 'Painting with Scissors' Winter collage a la Matisse! They are displayed in the classroom.
Reminder: To return your TWOS fieldtrip form.
Thank you: To all the parents who volunteered to come with us!
