I am overwhelmed by the response we have gotten from family and friends whom Flat Stanley/Stella have visited! It is truly amazing the time and effort they have put into making this a very special learning experience for our class. We will be writing our thanks to our hosts soon, almost all the Flat's have returned to us!
Flat Stanley has had many incredible adventures already! He has visited interesting landmarks all across the country, from BC to NB. He was lucky enough to spend Christmas with many of the host families. We have pictures of Flat Stanley in the Christmas tree, baking cookies, sledding... Some concerned hosts even knitted Flat Stanley/Stella a hat and scarf because it was such cold weather!
Flat Stanley became a Roughriders fan while in Saskatchewan, rode the Subway in Toronto, and fished for Lobster in New Brunswick. Flat Stanley's trip to Coldstream, BC was so convincingly beautiful, our class decided we would like to spend the summer there, camping. :)
One of the Flat Stanley hosts sent us the book "Have you Filled a Bucket Today-A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids" written by Carol McCloud, which we read together. It's worth picking up if you have not read it already. They also included a letter so touching I'd like to share part of it here:
"You brought a smile to our faces and an air of excitement in the anticipation of sending back our pictures... You filled our bucket that day and the days to follow. Every time we think of Flat (Stanley) and your class you will have filled our buckets again."
The thoughtfulness of your friends and family, and the enthusiasm of the children whenever we receive Flat Stanley mail, fills my bucket. Thank you for your continued support in this, and all of our learning activities. <3
