With a little cold snap hitting this week...again...I just want to remind everyone that it does get chilly at recess so it is still a good idea to keep coming with snow pants, gloves and toques for the time being.
Math - We are still working on fractions and decimals but focusing mostly on decimals. We have been converting fractions to decimals (e.g. 2/10 = 0.2 or 2/100 = 0.02). We have also begun adding decimals to the tenth and will continue this week adding to the hundredth. I believe we will be ready to write our fractions and decimals test by next Friday.
Math packs are coming home today with a new math games book inside. This round, I would like the students to choose 6 different games from the book to play and record their thinking about. Remember, they aren't limited to just 6 games.
Language Arts - We read a fun little piece of writing called, Alma's Amazing Almanac. Talk to your child about it and what we have been doing with the story. It really has been fun.
Theme Change - We have wrapped up our Wheels & Levers and Building Vehicles and Devices that Move unit in Science. We are going to be starting on Tuesday with our new Social Studies unit where we will be learning about Alberta's history and roots.
Talent Showcase is on Thursday afternoon starting at 1:00. There will be a walk through rehearsal on Wednesday at noon.
