Spelling and Other Reminders

Since I am away at a Response to Intervention training workshop and will not be returning until Friday, I thought I better take care of a little house keeping...

1. Spelling test on Friday
2. Hot Lunch on Friday
3. Library books due tomorrow
4. Some students still need to return their field trip form for Peter Pan.

With the Christmas Concert fast approaching, Mrs. Stanski has been working extra hard to make sure everything is in place and so are the kids. A message from her today said that they have been practicing hard and that you will all have so much to look forward to on the big night. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Social Studies Update - We have focused this week on learning a bit about what Alberta looks like and where it is in relation to other provinces. On Tuesday, students were given a small group challenge where they had to draw the shape of Alberta on a large paper and fill it with anything they could remember about what the province looks like from memory (major cities, landmarks, mountains, etc.). It was interesting to some of the things they added to their map and where they draw their information from. I heard things such as, "My Mom showed me this place because it is where she is from," and, "This is where we went sightseeing once." Over the course of the next few weeks we are further exploring what Alberta looks like and all it has to offer in terms of both beauty and resources.
